Show and Tell

Discovered at the very inspirational Mary-el Tarot hompage:
Paint what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

I've been a great admirer of Steven Kenny's artwork for a few years now, and I really respect him for his obvious knowledge of his subject matter as evidenced by the accurate, precise detail of each of his paintings. I was really thrilled when I discovered this very recent piece:Earthborn because it includes some of my favorite local flora and fauna. Those little white flowers on her head are Bloodroot, and behind her on the left side of the painting is a Jack-in-the-Pulpit. She also has what appears to be an Eastern Screech Owl on her hand. I wish I knew more about the local fungi, because I'm sure that species of mushroom grows around here as well. It really makes me happy that other artists are interested enough in a sense of place to do the research in order to find out what type of plants and animals are endemic to an area.

:-) Just felt like sharing....
